When it comes to famous baseball games on console, MLB 12: The Show is probably the most loved game due to the amazing close-to-reality experience it provides. MLB 12: The Show is much more realistic than its previous versions, allowing the gamer to feel as if they are right there on the baseball field getting ready to play.

 

MLB 12: The Show-A Great Legacy

MLB 12: The Show continues the legacy of being one of the most complex and realistic baseball video games. Its previous versions have been praised by many gamers worldwide and are famous for having the highest rating at gameplay, reality and features. In addition to the star players who look lifelike because of the animations that capture each of their unique personalities, the subtle extra features, such as pitcher’s and catcher’s various reactions to hits, will add more diversity and emotion to this unique game.

The developers used a high-tech feature in this version of the game, called True Ball Physics. This improvement is what makes MLB 12: The Show look so real. The developers used thousands of math equations to calculate the spin, speed, trajectory and angle of the ball. The analog stick is involved more in the action. It is easier now to focus on a certain part of the strike zone by simply tilting the left analog stick in that direction. Once you improve this technique, you will be able to hit all areas of the strike zone enabling you to confuse your competition.

The pitching system is another improved feature in this latest version. They finally got rid of that awful pitching meter which was so difficult to control, as it was replaced with a modern, pulsating pitching system that enhances your strike zone: the smaller the circle is when you release the pitch, the more accurate it will be. The pitching system relies much more on your ability rather than external circumstances.

Another important feature of MLB 12: The Show is its ability to transfer saves. You will be able to upload any saved files to the so called “cloud” and then you can download them to your console or even Vita. It is simply amazing to be able to continue your saved games while on the go. This modern video game also features PlayStation Move and 3D TV support. Moreover, the SimuView feature outputs two different signals of the game. For example, if you and another friend are playing this game, you can see the game from the pitching perspective while your friend will see it from the traditional batting perspective, simultaneously.

The Diamond Dynasty mode allows you to create a personalized team using superstars and custom players earned. This online mode allows you to trade and sell cards with other  players.

MLB 12: The Show-Pros and Cons

The advantages of MLB 12: The Show are its awesome display and graphics, combined with this unique feature, the pulse pitching. On the other hand, there are frequent online issues that make this game not the best choice when you want to play with your friends. Moreover, it will take some time to get use to this new gameplay, but once you master it, there will be no stopping you.

The last six years have been building up to the climax ending the universe of Mass Effect. In Mass Effect 3, Commander Shepard is proven right when the Reapers show up on Earth. This sets the stage for the end of the Mass Effect Trilogy. With Earth under siege and the rest of the galaxy at war, did Bioware hit a home run? In this Mass Effect 3 review we will explore that question.

Mass Effect 3- Plot and Characters

BioWare has always done two things extremely well: The writing of the game and the development of characters. Mass Effect 3 is not lacking at all in this regard, and in fact Mass Effect 3 is the best writing BioWare has ever done. The tension that builds with the plot, events, and the dialogue are constant and the characters have never seemed so real.

While the writing and character development is far greater than anything Bioware has done before, it does come at a small price. The conversations in Mass Effect 3 are mostly independent of the use control. This is a bit of draw back for players bringing in their Commander Shepard from the previous two Mass Effect games.

Mass Effect 3- Combat & Graphics

There is a great lesson that Bioware learned from the other two Mass Effects games. That is combat. Combat has a lot more action and is more fluid than previously seen. It is sill a cover and shoot type game, but the mobility has been greatly improved. Choosing the rights skills, the player can gain more mobility. There wont be any rolls and dodging, but a player will be able to maneuver greatly around their enemies.

The graphics in the game are an improvement from Mass Effect 2, but not by much. It is one of the best looking games Bioware has done, but it is not on par with games that are considered the best for graphics.

Everywhere that a player visits is gorgeous. The landscapes, skies, and the backgrounds are beautifully made. The uniqueness of each race is thoughtfully detail in each level. The drawback to this is the time on these planets are very limited.

The soundtrack for the game is where Bioware really out did itself. The music works well with each scene, sometimes building the entire screen. Not a single note or song is misplaced in the game, which is rare for most video games of this genre. Briging in composer Clint Mansell was a very good decision.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding the ending of the game. Not to give any spoilers, but the ending does leave a lot of questions about Pomander Shepard and the other members of the team unanswered. One player even went so far as to file a law suit over the ending to the game.

If you have played the other two games in the series, then Mass Effect 3 is a must have. The story, graphics and music all make Mass Effect 3 a superb game, of any type. Pick up the game today and give your own Mass Effect 3 review.

Final Fantasy XIII-2; when it was finally released, a good amount of people that write review articles were really excited. Unlike the original game, this title takes a close look at the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythos and crafts a story that surrounds the Etro Goddess. The Cocoon and Gran Pulse locations return in this game, and there are various changes in appearance throughout the time periods that the game depicts. Augusta Tower, for instance, is particularly high tech and features a rather complicated maze for an interior. The Vile Peaks are now covered in snow, which makes them slightly more attractive than in the last game. Previously they were nothing more than mounds of garbage.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 -Review Comparisons!

Another interesting point about locations in Final Fantasy XIII-2 involves Valhalla. The realm of death that rests at the edge of time in some distant future is known as an unseen world that no one can usually venture to. However, more than one review of the game has noted that this is actually a playable area. Gamers that get disappointed when the flavor text of a game gives lip service to areas that they never deliver on should rejoice when they hear that.

Along with providing expanded areas, Final Fantasy XIII-2 expands on other previous storylines. Serah Farron was an NPC in the previous game, but she goes on a playable adventure in this edition of the series. In fact, she travels with Noel and a Moogle companion to find her sister. Giving narratives to previous NPC characters is something that resonates pretty well with the majority of gamers.

Most review copy will note that the game really is not all that old. It was released in December 2011 for Japanese customers, and in early 2012 for gamers in North America, Australia and Europe. This means that most people have yet to find out that there are different theme songs for different regions. Japanese gamers can rock out to Mai Fukui’s Yakusoku no Basho, but some western fans might be a bit disappointed that the music was switched out with Charice’s New World. That being said, the new song shouldn’t make anyone grab his or her buster sword.

A few review columns have noted that much of the game involves various time travel missions. Many of those review columns have made a few comparisons to Chrono Trigger. In fact, Final Fantasy XIII-2 might be looked at as a version of Chrono Trigger without Akira Toriyama’s manga art. While it might not resemble Dragon Ball at all, the Historia Crux System certainly does resemble the nonlinear game play module that the other RPG was based around. In fact, players that like both games might notice the Square (now Square Enix) connections.

Final Fantasy XIII-2- Our Thoughts!

At least one review mentioned the fact that a member of the female idol group AKB48 was assigned to lead a group of 13 test players. This was naturally a way to get a positive review out of fans and the Japanese gaming media. It might be worth mentioning that AKB48 hails from Tokyo’s Akihabara district, which has long been associated with anime and video games. Maybe it was the perfect place to find someone to promote Final Fantasy XIII-2.

However, players of Final Fantasy XIII-2 shouldn’t have to worry that the game is loaded with unnecessary gimmicks. Most fans should probably be happy with the vast world that they have the ability to explore. The characterization and storyline in Final Fantasy XIII-2 are just as good as any other game in the series.

Video gameplay generally falls into two categories: single-player gaming and MMOGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Games.) Single player gaming is the most traditional form of gaming and what most people remember during their childhood. Single player games are simply that; a game in which a single person can play through levels to completion. MMOGs, on the other hand, are video games that rely on a massive multiplayer experience that is facilitated through internet connections. Multiplayer games have multiple levels, ranking systems, and obstacles for players to navigate through either on their own or in a team. There are pros and cons to MMOGs, but it is safe to say it is currently the leading form of gameplay and revered by millions upon millions of gamers across the globe.

MMOGs Pros And Cons!

The online gaming community is constantly and continuously growing. With more internet connections being established every day the gaming community is only growing stronger. Online gaming provides players with an arena in which to prove their skills, improve their gaming capabilities and it also provides an outlet for social activity. The online community works, in some ways, like a circle of friends, with connections between people across the globe being made every day. MMOGs gameplay also allows players to spend less to garner entertainment. For a flat fee of about $50 per game, and the cost of an established internet connection players are given countless hours of gameplay. Unlike traditional, single-player games MMOGs can be accessed over and over again.

As the online community and technology grows stronger games are becoming more and more advanced and lengthening the amount of gameplay that is available. Single-player games, on the other hand, have a point of completion. The lack of replay value on a single player game makes the experience much more expensive than one would find on a MMOGs platform.

The online gaming community is tightly knit, but that also means there is a lot of talking that goes on during online gaming sessions. MMOGs are notorious for having issues with “smack” talk and players getting a bit too riled up. There is also a very competitive nature in multiplayer online games that just don’t exist within single player games. The competitiveness of online games also can lead to video game addictions that can quickly take control of a person’s life. Traditional games tend to have a lower instance of addiction as they don’t feed into the need to be competitive and they do not fulfill the social aspect that multiplayer games do.

Both traditional single-player games and massive MMOGs have pros and cons attributed to them. Both gaming platforms afford players an outlet for their boredom and a sense of fulfillment as they work through levels and create a presence for themselves in game. The differences truly come down to a players preferred method of playing. The MMOGs  forum, however, allows players to truly connect with other, like-minded people, and gives players a much larger platform on which to explore their gaming style and preferences.

A Review Of The Xbox Kinect Console!

Xbox Kinect ConsoleMicrosoft’s Xbox Kinect Console motion gaming device uses a wand-like controller as equipment in the 3D realm. This game effectively integrates voice, camera and body sensing into its games, along with all of the essential Xbox attributes. The technology used in the Xbox Kinect Console could be adapted for just about any kind of game.

Special Features Of The Xbox Kinect Console!

To effect gesture navigation, the hand moves simultaneously with the cursor. The only downside is that it’s not as fast as using a controller. The voice mechanism is designed for acute accuracy – no matter where you happen to be in the game, because it has bi-directional mics. The video chat is also compatible with Windows Live Messenger.

The motion navigation includes all body parts, as opposed to only the arms – and intuitively knows when movements are occurring. For example, the Kinect Sports Volleyball game is aware when a player jumps in the air. This is considered by many as the first time that a feature like this has existed in this type of gaming experience.

Pros

The Xbox Kinect Console motion games include a variety of dancing, sports and exercise titles for which the technology allows for more than its competitors. For example, the games exceed even what is found in a typical arcade, and include ways to adopt and learn real-world motion and strategy skills, such as with “Keyboard Cat” and “Dust-Off”.

Navigation through the menus for music, games and movies is easier using the voice and body, rather than relying upon the hands. This can also cut down on repetitive stress issues that many gamers have faced in the past. This technology may also set a precedent for other games in this regard, which could enhance the gaming experience overall for a very large number of people.

Cons

There is a setup required for each game, which can be a bit awkward, and there is no standardized method for the Xbox Kinect Console menu navigation with the body. Because each game setup is different, this could pose extra challenges for some players and interfere with effecting a smooth gaming experience.

This gaming device’s viewing angle is rather narrow, which can restrict the play area. It also makes it very difficult to include two moving people on the screen simultaneously. Much of the time, a player may be cut out and need to step back into the shot. To get around this, it is possible to get a stand to mount it onto the top of the TV. This will allow a wider camera viewing angle.

A lot of room is required to play the Xbox Kinect Console’s games, due to the physical nature of them. A small apartment, for example, may present a difficult challenge to overcome.

The Xbox Kinect Console is definitely a technological breakthrough in terms of using voice and body movement for navigation. The games offered are expected to increase over time. Using the body and voice could also be beneficial for more traditional types of popular warfare games, which could be exciting to see and experience.

Because a lot of space is required to play its games – more so than its competitors, this could be a negative that some people may not be able to address. The narrow camera angle is another issue that could make the experience a little less appealing. Overall, however, this gaming device’s advanced technology seems easy to learn and use for most people.

From a gaming technology development perspective, only time will tell if the Xbox Kinect Console might represent what the future of gaming for Windows on computers will be.

A Review Of That Classic, Sonic CD!

SonicThis article is going to be taking a very in-depth look at that aged classic from SEGA, “Sonic CD“. Initially released on the, “Sega CD”, which as SEGA’s disc add on for their 16 bit Genesis console, this game is a favorite among many gamers all over the globe. Many people that never really favored the company as a developer of software will admit to enjoying a good game of Sonic behind closed doors. While initially only available for SEGA CD, this title has also been released for PC, and even Nintendo’s pre-Wii effort, “Game Cube”. Even a version of this title has been ported over to android for play on cellphones and tablets! There are a number of reasons why this title has enjoyed so much success on so many formats.

First Glance At Sonic CD!

At first glance, the look of the game is very similar to the look of the original, 16 bit Sonic title. One noticeable difference is the level of extra detail and vivid color that only a game stored on a digital disk could be capable of. The details present in the animation are also more appealing to the eye; again this is due to the additional amount of storage that a CD-ROM disc is capable of. The look isn’t beyond 16 bit, it is simply 16 bit with more storage capacity. The look of this title truly is 16 bit taken to its very limit. When initially released on the Genesis’s disc drive, the look of this particular title was blowing the minds of many gamers! Newer gamers might consider Sonic CD to be dated, however it is the most state of the art that 16 bit was capable of at the time.

In many ways this game is similar to the original Sonic for Genesis. This title, once again, resembles the first Sonic effort in the way that it plays however there are additional game play moves that the player is capable of. There is, of particular importance to mention, the addition of the “spin dash” and also the “super peal out”. These two moves compliment the simplistic formula that was established in Sonic part 1. The notion of rings is still the same in this title. A player has to collect and also keep rings. If a player comes into contact with a baddie then immediately collecting as many spilled rings as possible is within the player’s best interest if he or she does not want to lose a life.

As with the original Sonic game, any player that is able to maintain at least 50 of Sonic’s rings at the end of any act will have the opportunity to grab a giant ring that will take them to a bonus level. These bonus levels are very similar to the bonus levels of the original Sonic title which were a favorite amongst classic gamers. The bonus rings in this version take place on the familiar three-dimensional plane that players must cleverly navigate through.

Our Take On Sonic CD!

No matter which format a player utilizes, the controls on Sonic CD are very simple. This game, much like Sonic part 1, is a title that is easy to learn yet difficult to master. Players that enjoy two dimensional side-scrollers will like the very fast paced nature of a Sonic game. It is the fast paced nature of the original Sonic that likely sparked the title into a successful franchise. Most players were used to side-scrolling while solving puzzles however many of them had never before tried anything as fast as Sonic. Players that are trying this title for the first time will likely warmly embrace the fast-paced mascot that stood for everything that the power house “Genesis” was to a generation who was going beyond 8 bit graphics for the first time!

Video Game Review: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3!

Among the video game reviews found online for the plethora of video games on the market, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was a welcomed and enjoyed revised and improved version of Marvel vs Capcom to many devout gamers.

This new, sequel game has addressed many gameplay issues existing in the original version of the video game. A refining of the online experience has been enhanced and has received good feedback as well. Features and characters have been improved over the original version of the game, as well as new characters adding interest in the newer game.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3- New Characters!

There are six new profiled characters on each side:

Nova (able to acquire and release energy and fly)
Rocket Raccoon (same features as earth’s animal, with heightened speed, laser gun, ability to use weaponry)
Iron Fist (Powers of K’un-L’un, spiritual chi, ability do battle and heal)
Dr. Strange (Powerful sorcerer with magical weapons)
Ghost Rider (Penance Stare, inflicting pain on pain inflicters in equanimity, Enchanted Chain, and Hell Bike)
Hawkeye (Precision Bow Firer)

Capcom:

Frank West (Expert Wrestler, ability to use any object handy for battle)
Vergil (Devil Arm Yamato, can access demonic powers)
Phoenix Wright (Skilled legal defense and observation expert)
Nemesis (Rocket Launching Super Strength warrior)
Firebrand (Spits fireballs from mouth and Hell Climbs0
Strider (Wields plasma-generating Cypher sword that cuts through anything; robotic animal helpers)
